In this talk, Shion Guha will explore how predictive risk models are used in government agencies, deconstructing and interrogating what “risk” actually means in these systems and providing provocative directions for how to move beyond existing approaches.
This session will describe the buddy program's activities, roles and responsibilities of mentor-buddies and how interested staff can apply to take part as an experienced buddy who will welcome a newcomer.
What does it mean to be an ally to Indigenous peoples? And is it even possible to call yourself an ally or is more correct to say that one can only aspire to be an ally as allyship is a continuous process of self-reflexivity and learning and acting in a decolonial manner. These are some of the questions and issues that will be explored in the hour and a half presentation.
Our weekly SRI Seminar Series welcomes Salomé Viljoen, an assistant professor of law at the University of Michigan Law School who studies the information economy, the social impacts of automation, and how legal structures can impact inequality.
This session will provide all staff with key resources, tips and techniques to support the embedding of universal design principles in all aspects of their work.
