This is a virtual online session. Login details will be provided closer to the session date.
This session will provide all staff with key resources, tips and techniques to support the embedding of universal design principles in all aspects of their work. Participants will be introduced to the concepts and principles of universal design, provided with guidance on what spaces, built and not, universal design has been applied, and given advice on what aspects of university administration and services can be designed using this concept. Participants will leave this session with practical strategies for applying universal design to their own roles.
Learning outcomes
- Describe the key principles of universal design
- Identify features of spaces wherein universal design has been applied
- Apply universal design techniques to your own roles
Session format
- The session will be presentation based with opportunities for participants to ask questions and engage in the topic.
- Participants will be asked to provide answers to some questions using Zoom polls and third-party platforms like Menti.
- Participants are invited to engage in ways that work for them. Chat participation is welcome, however we ask that this be restricted to specific Q&A sections of the presentation, to avoid distraction.
