They shoot, they score!
In a heart-pounding showdown on the freshly zambonied ice of Varsity Stadium on March 27, 24 IT@UofT community members from fifteen different teams and departments including ARC, CTSI, Kinesiology, the Registrar’s office faced-off in the second annual IT@UofT hockey game.
The intensity was palpable as both teams skated relentlessly, keeping a very close game throughout. However, when the final buzzer sounded, it was the white team that came out victorious by a score of 5-4. In the closing moments, their game-winning goal elicited shouts of joy throughout the arena.
Thank you to all who participated – from the players and referees on the ice to the enthusiastic crowd with their home-made signs and dedicated alliance to their favourite teams.
“IT@UofT hockey provides a great opportunity for community members to connect in a completely different context, have some fun and get to know each other beyond our day-to-day roles at the University,” says Laurie Harrison, Director, Digital Learning Innovation and organizer of this new tradition. “At the rink we can take teamwork to another level!
So, whether you dream of being the next Wayne Gretzky or simply want to lace up your skates and glide past your colleagues, we hope to see you at next year’s showdown!
