Planning, Governance & Assessment (PGA)
About
PGA, in consultation with partners, develops policies, procedures, standards and guidelines, and is responsible for maintaining institutional information technology policies. PGA regularly consults with groups across U of T through committees, communities of practice, participation in divisional meetings and other channels as a key part of optimizing Information Technology Services’ offerings and forecasting institutional requirements to meet client needs.
PGA is part of the Office of the Chief Information Officer and is responsible for facilitating IT governance and recommending enhancements to IT governance structures and methods. This work is led by Marden Paul, Director, PGA.

- IT internal and external assessment
- ITS governance and relationship to the IT@UofT strategic plan
- Lead operation, mandate, agenda setting and membership for sponsored ITS committees
- Partnership building and managing relationships with partners
- Policy and guideline development and review
- Managing and promoting the institutional Gartner research services relationship
Planning & assessment
PGA’s planning and assessment services include:
- General consultation services for IT-related issues and operations
- Focus groups, requirements gathering and process streamlining
- Institutional surveying about IT services and tools, such as the EDUCAUSE Technology Research in the Academic Community (ETRAC) survey, EDUCAUSE Core Data Service
- Support for RFP processes, including drafting and evaluating
- Technological solution assessments and evaluations
- Stakeholder engagement, building cross-functional teams and fostering collaboration across divisions
