UTORMFA service: New feature and goals for 2021
Published on: March 23, 2021
UTORMFA — the multi-factor authentication (MFA) service introduced last year at University of Toronto (U of T) — is continuing to gain traction across the tri-campus community in 2021.
As the project moves forward, the Information Security team has set new goals and introduced a helpful feature.
Bypass codes
Lost or forgot your phone and can’t access U of T’s multi-factor authentication service (DUO Mobile) to get into your UTORid? No problem! — emergency bypass codes are now available at U of T. These codes enable users to login when their mobile device is not available. Check out the new bypass code service here.
Enrolment goals
As the team looks forward into 2021, they aim to enrol all appointed and United Steel Workers (USW) staff before May. Faculty enrolments will follow in the second half of 2021. To aid efforts, a customer advisory group with representatives from each division was created.
About UTORMFA
UTORMFA is a security solution that makes remote work better. Overall, MFA adds an extra layer of security to your login, enabling you to work remotely with confidence. UTORMFA is:
- Simple: Two clicks for a safer login.
- Fast: Self-enrol in minutes
- Secure: Organizations that use MFA are significantly less likely to experience a breach.
- Convenient: Access high security applications from home. No need to go into the office.
Since summer 2020, more than 7,200 individuals within the University community have enrolled in UTORMFA. (For the most up-to-date number, visit the UTORMFA live enrollment counter here).
