Shaping the next chapter: IT@UofT’s refreshed Strategic Plan

Published on: December 3, 2024

The University of Toronto’s IT@UofT Strategic Plan was launched in 2019 to align the University’s information technology services with its academic mission. Over the past five years, this plan has guided significant advancements across U of T’s three campuses. As we approach the conclusion of this plan’s lifecycle, we are excited to introduce a refreshed Strategic Plan for 2025-2027.

An extension of the original IT@UofT Strategic Plan (2019-2024), this refreshed plan extends its vision while addressing the evolving needs of our community. It provides a roadmap for the continued development and deployment of IT infrastructure and services in collaboration with divisions and business units across U of T’s three campuses.

Community-driven insight

The refreshed plan reflects updated goals and corresponding objectives informed from extensive community consultation. In spring 2024, the IT@UofT community was engaged through group consultations, town halls, polls and surveys to gather insights on priorities for the coming years.

“Through these discussions, we gained a deeper understanding of the community’s vision for the future of IT@UofT,” says Laurie Harrison, Director, Digital Learning Innovation. “This refreshed plan is a direct result of their invaluable input.”

What we learned

Recurring themes emerged during the consultation process, including the importance of partnership, joint investment and shared services. These insights reaffirmed the value of collaboration in achieving shared goals.

With these themes in mind, the refreshed plan retains the original IT@UofT pillars of people, solutions and collaboration, while refining the objectives to better reflect the priorities and needs of our community.

“As we embark on this next chapter, we look forward to leveraging technology to strengthen connections, foster innovation and enhance the University’s ability to achieve its mission,” says Donna Kidwell, Acting Chief Information Officer. “This plan reflects the collaborative spirit of our community and ensures we remain focused on delivering solutions that position U of T for success now and in the future.”
