Research security essentials: Navigating grant applications and beyond

In today’s ever-changing geopolitical landscape, understanding evolving government policies and frameworks is crucial for successful grant applications. Join the Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation (OVPRI)’s Research Security Team (RST) for a webinar designed for faculty members and academic researchers for:

  • Up-to-date information on the different research security government processes for grant applications
  • A demonstration of tools and resources that can be used to better understand research security processes and improve applications
  • Details for where and how the RST can assist pre- and post-award

This webinar is tailored for faculty members and academic researchers who want to better understand different frameworks and policies related to research security and navigate specific funding requirements for key Tri-agency fundings, related programs, and Ontario-based grants.

There will be a particular focus on early career researchers.

Learning objectives

After this session, attendees will:

  • Better understand details and implications of Government of Canada’s policy on Sensitive Technology Research and Affiliations of Concern (STRAC), and National Security Guidelines for Research Partnerships (NSGRP)
  • Be able to identify different funding requirements for key tri-agency funding, related programs, and Ontario-based grants
  • Be able to better navigate through additional resources and supports related to research security including the self-assessment tool
