Cyber Security Awareness Month – 10th anniversary

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month (CSAM), and this year marks the campaign’s 10th anniversary.
After a decade that saw the rise of ransomware, nation state threats, social media and the Internet of Things, information security risks have become a part of life and work online. The goal of the CSAM campaign is to help the University of Toronto (U of T) tri-campus community stay secure together by raising awareness about the simple steps we can take to stay safe online.
Information security is a top priority for the University, as outlined in our IT@UofT strategic plan. U of T has resources like multi-factor authentication in place to help students, faculty and staff stay safe online, whether we’re learning/working remotely or on campus. The ITS guidelines for working remotely also offer simple steps you can take to stay secure as we continue to work from home over the next few months.
Throughout October, there will be many opportunities for U of T staff, faculty and students to learn how to stay secure together. I encourage you participate by reviewing this year’s CSAM resources and signing up for an event via the links below.
