This year for TechKnowFile 2014, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Brad Wheeler, Vice-President of IT and CIO, Indiana University, as the Keynote Speaker. Over the past decade, Wheeler has co-founded and led over $70M of pooled university investments in open source software communities for Sakai and Kuali; co-founded the HathiTrust and Digital Preservation Network; and led IU’s new model for digital textbooks. In 2012 he was named one of The Chronicle of Higher Education’s “12 Tech Innovators Who Are Transforming Campuses” and one of Government Technology’s “Top 25 Doers, Dreamers, and Drivers in Public Sector Innovation”.
Brad Wheelers keynote address will focus on the shift of higher education to more of a private than a public good and the rapidly increasing digitization of education and research, which favours scale.
In anticipation of the opening TechKnowFile 2014 keynote address, we would like to invite our community to read Dr. Wheeler’s Speeding Up on Curves article published for the EDUCAUSE Review in January 2014.
