Under hot, sunny skies, more than 600 University of Toronto (U of T) staff members gathered for the fifth annual Vice-President Operations & Real Estate Partnerships (VPOREP) Than-Q BBQ & Awards event on Aug. 21.

The Daniel Wilson Quad was a buzz of activity as members from six different divisions — Information Technology Services (ITS), Facilities & Services, Planning and Budgeting, Academic + Campus Events, Ancillary Services and University Planning, Design & Construction — came together to celebrate and award exceptional staff contributions.

Delicious food was supplied by U of T’s own Food Services culinary team and the blues sounds of musical guests Loco Zydeco added a festive ambiance to the smell of grilled goods that filled the air.

ITS Award Winners

In the “Outstanding Individual Employee Award” category, two ITS members took home awards: Marco Di Vittorio, manager of Academic & Collaborative Technologies (ACT) Application Administration and Katie Babcock, senior communications officer, Enterprise Applications & Solutions Integration (EASI).

In the “Distinguished Service” category, ITS’ Ian Thomas, product manager information architect, Information Security, was recognized.

VPOREP established the annual Staff Achievement Awards Program in order to recognize and thank staff for the valuable work they performed throughout the year to the success of their particular unit, the University Operations portfolio and the University.
