Azure Infrastructure as Code and GitOps

March 25, 2021, 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Azure

Presenters: Ted Sikorski and Alex Tremblay, EIS Systems Team
Host: Avi Hyman, Director – Academic and Collaborative Technology

Our next session on March 25 is entitled “Azure Infrastructure as Code and GitOps: How the EIS Systems Group leverages code to automate provisioning and deployment”.

The EIS systems group will be implementing the principals of Infrastructure as Code (IAC)  to provision resources in the Azure cloud. They will discuss why this path was chosen, and also describe an environment that has been created in the cloud using IAC tools to build the underlying infrastructure. Also, the EIS team will share how they used Azures “devops” facility which uses git and pipelines to help clients deploy code into the managed environment. A demonstration will include two examples using pipelines to deploy code, one that is totally automated and another which requires approval. To wrap up, discussion will focus on enabling our clients to take advantage of this facility to make their deployments more streamlined and secure.
