CANHEIT 2023

The 2023 Canadian Higher Education Information Technology (CANHEIT) Conference will be hosted at the University of Toronto’s St. George campus, with an option to join online. Bo Wandschneider, CIO, U of T will be this year’s conference chair.

Overseen by the Council of Canadian University CIOs (CUCCIO), CANHEIT is the only national conference for IT professionals in higher education in Canada. Each year, IT professionals from universities across the country come together to share ideas, showcase best practices and learn from each other.

This is an event for the people by the people. The planning is underway, and we are seeking volunteers to join the conference committees. As to the time commitment, most committees will meet every two weeks and then weekly as the conference date approaches. It’s a great professional development opportunity and a chance to work with colleagues at U of T and other schools.

Committee details:

Sponsorship Committee (Positions filled)

Responsibilities include:

• Identifying and securing sponsors
• Determining requirements for sponsor packages and exhibit
• Stewarding sponsors during the conference

Programming Committee (Positions filled)

Responsibilities include:

• Helping to define the program themes
• Championing the event and encouraging presentation submissions and registrations
• Reviewing and selecting submissions to select speakers and presentations

Day-of volunteers (Virtual and in-person roles available)

Responsibilities include:

• Moderate in-person sessions
• Act as way finders and greeters on-site
• Sign in attendees and answer questions at the registration table onsite
• Staffing the virtual help desk
