Degree Verification

The University of Toronto provides verification that a student has completed a degree via degree verification on the web. All third-party requests for verification should be directed to this service. It enables prospective employers to verify the credentials of our graduates, and to minimize the risk of credential fraud. In addition, it protects our graduates from the illicit use of their designations by others. Other university offices are unable to verify credentials.

Degree verification is the only information that can be released without a student or graduate’s explicit consent. Other information, including confirmation of enrolment or academic history (i.e. majors, minors, grades, courses taken, academic standing), cannot be released directly to a third party. The academic history may only be obtained from an official transcript, which must be ordered by the student.
